A Better Route To Bozeman
Gallatin County is home to both Bozeman and Big Sky Montana and plans are underway to make travel between the two cities and throughout Gallatin easier. It was announced on Tuesday by Montana Senator, Steve Daines, that the county had received a $10.3 million grant from the federal government for the improvement of roadway systems within the area. The grant will specifically be used to enhance Highway 64, the thoroughfare that connects Big Sky to Bozeman and the rest of Gallatin County. The improvements scheduled to Highway 64 include, the installation of road signage along the route, the construction 7 left turn lanes at large intersections along the highway, building an ambitious pedestrian tunnel, buying four motor coaches and 4 vans for the county and enlarging an existing pedestrian trail that is already paved. U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao explained that such grants are designed to improve transportation for the community at national, regional or local levels, and Senator Steve Daines further commented on the necessity of the project stating, "Gallatin County is leading the state in economic growth. This grant will help the county meet the infrastructure demands of this rapid growth and continue creating good-paying jobs in the community."
